UV DTF stickers are designed for smooth, hard surfaces. They work best on:

Do Not Apply To: Fabric, textured surfaces, porous materials, or any surface that is wet, oily, or dusty. UV DTF stickers will not bond correctly to these surfaces.

How To Apply UV DTF Stickers

Follow all six steps in order for the best result. Skipping steps — especially cleaning and pressure — is the most common cause of poor adhesion.

Clean the Surface

Wipe the application area thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or a lint-free cloth. Remove all dust, oil, dirt, moisture, and fingerprints. The surface must be completely dry before you apply anything.

Pro Tip: 70% isopropyl alcohol works great. Let it fully evaporate — don't rush the drying step.

Squeegee the Design

Before peeling anything, apply firm pressure to the back of the UV DTF sticker using a squeegee or hard card. Move back and forth several times across the entire design to help the adhesive properly bond to the transfer film.

Pro Tip: A credit card or gift card works well as a squeegee tool. Apply more pressure than you think is needed — this step makes or breaks the transfer.

Peel the Backing Slowly

Carefully peel the design away from the backing sheet at a slow, steady angle. If any part of the design stays attached to the backing — stop immediately.

  • Lay the design back down flat
  • Squeegee firmly over the problem area again
  • Try peeling again slowly
Heads Up: Fine details and small text require extra care during peeling. Go slower on intricate designs.

Position the Sticker Carefully

Place the UV DTF sticker onto your product with care. Once it makes contact with the surface, it is very difficult to reposition or remove without damaging the design. Take your time aligning the sticker before pressing down.

Heads Up: Measure and mark your placement point before applying. There's no going back once it's down.

Apply Firm Pressure

Using a squeegee or hard card, press firmly over the entire design area. Pay extra attention to:

  • Edges and corners
  • Small details and fine lettering
  • Full coverage across the entire design

Even pressure across the whole transfer ensures the adhesive bonds correctly to the product surface.

Remove the Clear Carrier Film

Slowly peel away the clear transfer film at a low angle. If any part of the design lifts with the film:

  • Lay the film back down flat
  • Apply more pressure with a squeegee
  • Peel again slowly — do not rush
Final Step — Take Your Time: This is where most mistakes happen. Peel slow, peel low, and stop the moment anything lifts.

  • Apply only to smooth, clean, dry surfaces
  • Do not apply to fabric or textured surfaces
  • Hand wash recommended for cups and tumblers with UV DTF stickers applied
  • Allow adhesive to cure for several hours before heavy use or washing
  • Avoid excessive scratching or abrasion immediately after application
Care Tip: UV DTF stickers on drinkware are not dishwasher-safe. Hand washing extends the life of your transfer significantly — especially on tumblers and cups used daily.
